Today, February 4th, marks World Cancer Day, a global initiative uniting individuals, communities, and organizations in the fight against cancer. This year’s theme, “Close the Care Gap,” highlights the stark inequities in cancer prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and survivorship that exist around the world.
Despite significant advancements in cancer research and treatment, millions of people face avoidable suffering and death due to unequal access to quality care. These disparities are rooted in complex socio-economic factors like poverty, geographical location, gender, ethnicity, and lack of awareness.
