World AIDS Day is observed on December 1st each year to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS and to show support for people living with the virus. This year’s theme is “Ending the HIV Epidemic: Equitable Access, Everyone’s Responsibility.”
What is HIV/AIDS?
HIV stands for human immunodeficiency virus. It is a virus that attacks the body’s immune system, making it difficult to fight off infections. AIDS stands for acquired immunodeficiency syndrome. It is the most advanced stage of HIV infection and can lead to death.
How is HIV transmitted?
HIV is transmitted through the exchange of bodily fluids, such as blood, semen, and vaginal fluids. This can happen through unprotected sex, sharing needles, or from mother to child during pregnancy, childbirth, or breastfeeding.
How can I prevent HIV?
