Gulzarilal Nanda Punyatithi: On January 15, 1998, India lost a great leader and a humble man Gulzarilal Nanda. He was the only person to serve as Prime Minister of India on two occasions, both for 13 days each.
Nanda was born in Sialkot(Punjab) in 1898. He was educated in Lahore, Agra, and Allahabad. He joined the Non-Cooperation Movement in 1920 and was imprisoned several times for his political activities.
Nanda was a skilled labor leader and served as Secretary of the Ahmedabad Textile Labour Association for many years. He was also a member of the Indian National Congress and held several cabinet positions in the government of India.
